José María Boix and his wife first saw the house in the late 1980's and were overwhelmed by its beauty. They immediately decided to buy it and convert it into a luxury hotel. After a major restoration, the Hotel Torre del Remei opened in 1991. Their great achievement has been to retain all the wonderful elements of design of this amazing house, putting into the interior everything necessary for a hotel with the highest standards of international luxury; luxury of the first order with high ceilings, four-poster beds, walls draped with velvet and immense lamps like crystal sculptures.
There are 22 guestrooms, 12 of them in the main house, each one distinctively different yet united by a common theme and use of colours. Every corner of the Torre Del Remei is a paragon of style and quality, befitting of a hotel that has even been host to HM King Juan Carlos of Spain as well as leading personalities from the worlds of film, art, literature and industry.
In order to continue the evolution, 2000 saw the start of extensive renovation and conversion of the old stables, known as La Masía. This added a further 10 bedrooms each of which maintains the same high standards of luxury found in the main house, but combined with a lighter, less formal touch. The most recent addition is a gym with sauna and massage rooms where you can enjoy sports or relaxing massages by professional physios.
The gardens extend to over 11 acres, with lawns, a small lake, trees, paths, benches and a swimming pool elegantly styled in keeping with its surroundings.
Restaurant:
José María Boix's cuisine depends on ingredients of the highest quality, selected wherever possible from the hotel's own kitchen garden. He is a keen researcher into the history of Catalan and Pyrenean cooking and likes to use distinctive local produce such as mushrooms, forest fruits, wild salad leaves, etc.The restaurant opens directly onto the garden and seats up to 60 diners. There is also a small private dining room available.
A Word From the Owner:
"We have done everything to retain the structure and style of a grand country house, while incorporating all the features necessary for a 5 star luxury hotel. Design and technology has been combined to create the best and most pleasant stay for our guests. Welcome."Hotel Amenities:
