Villa Soro was built in 1898 by Don Ramón Londaiz for his daughter María (lucky girl!) on the occasion of her engagement to Luis Gaytan de Ayala. The Gaytan de Ayala family continued to live in the house for several generations. The main drawing room of the house retains its original hardwood floors in gleaming condition, and it makes a delightful lounge with comfortable sofas, antique furniture and a decor of red and grey fabrics. The bar is located in the former dining room, featuring original 19th century oak panelling.
15 of the bedrooms are located in the main house. The remainder are in the former coach house, now skilfully converted with a modern façade which elegantly reflects the style of the rest of the hotel. Naturally, each of the rooms is distinctively different, equipped with all the facilities you may desire and decorated with plush fabrics and elegant woods in a style becoming of such an elegant 19th century villa. Everywhere, the quality of materials and workmanship is evident in both the century-old original and the modern restoration.
The garden at Villa Soro was designed in 1898 by the renowned French landscape architect Ducasse, and still today this is a space of tranquillity and elegance close to the centre of San Sebastian. For those who seek the personal service of a little hotel with the services of a 4 star larger hotel, Villa Soro offers the two qualities in perfect harmony.
Restaurant:
Breakfast is served in the former "Serre" or Winter Garden, or in your room if you would like to eat in private. There is no restaurant for lunch or dinner, but there is a highly rated Michelin-starred restaurant within a 5 minute walk and seven others within a 10 minute drive. The reception staff will always be happy to recommend restaurants to suit your requirements. You may also have Room Service bring you a choice from a small menu of dishes reflecting the gastronomy of the Guipuzcoa region.A Word From the Owner:
