On the outside Son Simó Vell is a classic Mallorcan finca, a typically rustic stone building surrounded by trees and fields. Inside though, it is a paragon of minimalist modernity, with white walls and lots of marble giving a light, bright feel to every room.

Set far back from the road, the view in front is one of fields, olive groves and vineyards, with open hills in the far distance. Behind the hotel, the land becomes more rugged with holm oaks, pine trees and rocky outcrops leading up on to the hills that eventually become the Tramuntana mountains. This is the environment that guests find, sitting out in the garden or by the pool where the surroundings are soft and mellow, with lots of trees and bushes, and even a stone-age monument revealing a history of this area that extends back at least 3000 years.

The land of Son Simó Vell (150 acres) remains a working farm as well as a hotel. The restaurant serves all the products of the surrounding land: wine, extra virgin olive oil, oranges, lemons, vegetable and even freshly-laid eggs.

Although it feels quite remote, Son Simó Vell is very conveniently located, close to the old mediaeval town of Alcudia and the beaches and ports of Puerto de Pollensa and Puerto de Alcudia. For walkers and other lovers of nature, the Tramuntana mountains are not far away; nor are the rocky north-west coastline and the lighter, brighter deeply-indented coast on the eastern side of the island. Even the trip to and from the airport is quick and easy.

Restaurant:

Daily breakfasts are served in the dining room, where the decor maintains the same cool, minimalist style of the rest of the house. Dinner is available by prior booking.

Walking: An easy stroll straight from the hotel, or something more energetic in the Tramuntana mountains.
Beaches: Go for places with lots of facilities like Puerto de Pollensa and Puerto de Alcudia. Or try somewhere more tranquil such as Es Mal Pas.
Golf: 7 kilometres from the hotel is Alcanada Golf, one of the newest courses in Mallorca, in an incomparably beautiful setting. Three other courses within 30 km.
Fishing trips: Go out for a day of fishing or diving from Puerto de Pollensa or Puerto de Alcudia.

Places to visit:
Pollentia: The remains of a hugely imortant Roman city on the outskirts of Alcudia.
Nature Reserves of Son S'Albufereta and S'Albufera. Especially important for bird watching.
Formentor: The rocky promontory at the northern tip of Mallorca. Spectacular cliffs.
La Victoria hermitage.
Sierra Tramuntana mountains.
Caves of Drach showcaves.
Palma. A beautiful and cosmopolitan city. Don't miss the cathedral and the old quarter. There are important museums too, like Fundación Miró amd the Museo de Es Baluard.

A credit card number and a 25% deposit is required to confirm a reservation.

Cancellations:

Cancellations should be received in writing (e-mail) at least 30 days before scheduled arrival. In this case the deposit is refunded.
For cancellations with 16 to 30 days notice the charge is 25%.
From 3 to 15 days notice, the charge is 50%.
Less than 3 days notice, or no-shows, the full amount is charged.
