What will the weather be like?

Located in the beautiful village of Cazalla de la Sierra, within the northern mountains of Sevilla, the Hotel Palacio de San Benito is the result of an intensive restoration of a historic but dilapidated old building. Formerly a mediaeval hospital for pilgrims on their way to Santiago, the palace has been sympathetically remodelled using mostly original materials. Hotel Palacio de San Benito

Every part of the palace is an architectural masterpiece. There's the Restaurant, featuring a magnificent collection of Spanish ceramics and 19th century English dishes, and splendid fireplaces adorned with portraits. The Bar Cazalla is a quaint little bar with a Mudejar-style ceiling and a terrace next to the palace's fountain pool, where you can sit out to enjoy the weather and the scenery. There is a small chapel, with its Sevillian Rococo-style altar; a library, reminiscent of a Victorian sitting room; the Gallery, presenting numerous paintings of Brussels and Abusson, and the Music Room, with a magnificent Erad piano, portraits, and precious furniture.

Outside, one of the most notable features is a fountain-pool in a blend of Roman and Moorish style which now serves as the hotel swimming pool. It sits in one corner of the magnificent "Gran Patio".

There are 9 guest rooms at the Palacio de San Benito, decorated in a wholly distinctive way, with antique furnishings and art from different eras, combined with fine fabrics to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The rooms are named to suit their own special character: the majestic King's Room, the Queen's Room, (they can be put together to make a splendid suite), the elegant Blue Room, the Bullfighter's Room, and the spacious Honeymoon Suite, with a gorgeous Edwardian ottoman and a magnificent pair of 19th century bathtubs.

With so many activities possible in the surrounding area, the hotel will always be happy to help you make the most of them. Guests can choose from horse riding, fishing, hunting, hiking, horse-drawn carriage rides, and cultural occasions such as painting, history and flamenco courses, not to mention guided tours where guests can appreciate the splendour of the mountains and the cultural heritage of Cazalla.

Restaurant:

Breakfasts and dinners are served in the Loggia, with large windows looking out onto the fountain-pool and the central patio. The other restaurant is a grand room ideal for private meals, with two massive mahogany tables and 18th century English chairs.

What We Say:

I love the architecture of southern Spain, and this ancient building is one of the best. The restorers were fortunate to have a second building nearby (in an even worse state) from which they were able to take many materials and artefacts for the creation of the current Palacio.
