For owner Karen, this is her home, her dream and it seems to us like her whole reason for living. It is part of the charm of the hotel that guests are welcomed as a part of the family for the duration of their stay. It really is a place for people who appreciate comfort, beauty, tranquillity and good food.
The vast lounge has heavy wood beamed ceilings and a big fireplace where there is always a log fire in winter. This is a place to while away the evenings with a book from the library and a drink from the bar. For visitors who simply have to stay in touch with the outside world, there is a quiet internet corner. The ample grounds of Posada del Torcal offer gardens, terraces, a heated swimming pool and a tennis court. All this way out in the middle of nowhere, with just the views and the birds for company.
The beautifully decorated rooms are totally individual, each named after a great Spanish artist. Most have a balcony or terrace and some have a private jacuzzi. What they all share in common are some of the best views to be found anywhere in Spain, or anywhere else come to that!
For those who want them, the hotel can arrange lots of activities like horse-riding, quad bikes and clay shooting. Most though will be happy to relax, or perhaps to indulge themselves in some tremendous walks in the El Torcal Natural Park. There is a choice of bed-and-breakfast or half-board, both of which include afternoon tea and cakes and unlimited house wine, beer, soft drinks and water.
Restaurant:
Dinner is a four course table d’hote served informally in the style of a small house party, either in the main dining room or outside on one of the terraces, weather permitting. Chef Paul Tugwell ( ex-Savoy Hotel, London) offers some stunning food, a different menu every day, a clever combination of some of Spain’s most traditional dishes, with an international twist. And what a setting! The amazing views are almost (but not quite) enough to distract you from the superbly presented meal.A Word From the Owner:
"La Posada del Torcal has been both our home and our hotel since 1996. We have always strived to create a special, yet relaxed atmosphere, where our guests feel totally "at home" and at the same time know without a doubt they are in a hotel which will offer them the highest level of service. Our repeat customers are numerous and I believe this is the best compliment a hotel can have."Hotel Amenities:

On a website dedicated to hotels full of personality and charm, La Posada Del Torcal stands out. The swimming pool was featured in a special Sunday Times article on the world's most glamourous pools with a view. Meanwhile, the "Miró" bedroom has similarly starred in Condé Nast Traveller Magazine, as a room with one of the most spectacular views in all the world. For 2009, the hotel is adopting a more laid-back approach, so while a few of the formalities have gone, we like it even more.Customer Feedback:
"Posada del Torcal is simply the most ideal hotel in which either of us have ever been, and we've done quite a bit of travelling. It is just the right size, unbelievably beautiful views, a very gracious staff, a great pool and activities house. The restaurant serves fantastic food. With all the day trip options nearby, you can easily spend a week here, quite inexpensively and never be bored. I'm not kidding! We will recommend this place to anyone. The best!" R.P. USA
"Included in our delightful memories of La Posada are your two dogs - Scruffy and Kippis who accompanied us on our walks - we felt like family!" D.S. UK
"What a joy to to the senses - your Hotel is very special - we will be back!" C.R. South Africa
"Our 5th visit in four years and still absolute bliss" J.T. Belgium
"We stayed in 5 different hotels on our grand tour of Andalucia from a Seville "boutique hotel" to a converted olive mill near Ronda. Without doubt the highlight of our visit was "La Posada del Torcal" - a true gem". K.S. UK
"The finishing touches - the classical music, the candles in all the rooms and the ban on mobile phones in various areas all add to your charm". D.R. Germany
