The old cloisters provide the central patio where there are seats and chairs where guests can settle to enjoy the simple pleasures of life: watching the storks, reading or just doing absolutely nothing. For the summer months, there is a pool positioned within the walls of the nun's kitchen garden. And at any time of year the sheltered south patio soaks up the sun, offering sunbeds in the winter and white sunshades in summer. Indoors too, there is a pleasant reading room on the top floor.
Ten of the guestrooms are ranged around the central patio, and these are the ones decorated in a monastic style combining modern comfort with the classic simplicity of a nun's cell. In the rest of the hotel, the other rooms have allowed more eclectic design ideas, so that every one provides a little design surprise.
La Parra sits in the little-known part of Spain that actually truly justifies the over-worn term "undiscovered Spain". See for yourself.
Restaurant:
The restaurant occupies the barrel-vaulted nun's refectory, where they serve a carefully prepared menu based on the traditional cuisine of Extremadura, brought up to date and adapted to the season. For instance, in autumn and winter there will be warming dishes such as Mountain Pie stuffed with rabbit and partridge and topped with puff pastry, or pears au gratin with creamed almonds. In summer the dishes will be refreshing things like Salmorejo sauce, Chestnut Carpaccio and baked prawns with Iberian ham.A Word From the Owner:
"After 8 years spent creating this hotel, living and breathing the place, it is still one of the most surprisingly calming places I know. The peace that comes from the building and the history it contains has been complemented by the efforts of a young team dedicated to pleasing their guests. We are also fortunate to find ourselves in an environment rich in both natural and historical beauty."Hotel Amenities:

What We Say:
I hate it when tour operators and estate agents use phrases like "the real Spain" and "undiscovered Spain", but this is the Real Thing. Just about as far from the Costa de Anything as you will get. Don't miss it.Customer Feedback:
