Gonzalo de Rio y Gonzalez-Gordon created the Hotel Casa Numero 7 because the building took his fancy. At the time it was a crumbling ruin, but Gonzalo has turned it into a charming boutique hotel
, furnished with antiques from his own personal collection, and feeling more like a private home than a hotel. Gonzalo’s family history is aristocratic Spanish (Tio Pepe sherry), laced with a splash of English (Gordon’s gin) so it is no surprise to find a white-gloved butler, silver-framed photos of the British royal family and scrambled eggs cooked with extra-virgin olive oil.
Casa Numero 7 is a traditional Seville townhouse squeezed into a narrow street in the old quarter of the city, very close to the cathedral and the Barrio Santa Cruz. The six rooms are arranged around the galleries of the central patio, that has been glazed over to create a soaring hall full of light. There is a fine drawing room full of family portraits and draped with plush fabrics, while breakfast is available in the dining room. Drinks, including products of the family firm of course, are available any time from the honesty bar on the first floor. The roof terrace has views over the old quarter of the city, including the cathedral and La Giralda, the 12th century bell-tower of the cathedral.
Each room has its own distinctive charm, and its own distinctive decoration. If you’re lucky enough to stay in the room at the top of the house, you’ll have your own direct access to the roof terrace. Whichever room you have, you’ll have all the usual luxuries of a quality small hotel, except a television!
When you stay at Casa Numero 7, you will get more than a luxurious hotel room close to all the historic sights of Seville, you will also get an unforgettable experience in the house of a unique host.
Restaurant:
Breakfast is served in the blue dining room. This a meal to set you up for the day, combining the owner's anglophile propensities with the best produce of Andalucía: coffee or tea (made the way tea should be made), croissants and fresh bread, toast with Seville orange marmalade, eggs cooked in exta virgin olive oil.Lunch and dinner are not available in Casa Numero 7, leaving you free to explore the restaurants of the surrounding area.
