The decoration has more than a hint of baroque, many details being retained from the original. These include many examples of faux columns and other ornamentation around doors and windows which were a common feature of houses of this era. The bedrooms offer the options of double rooms, a triple and a family suite. Most notable in the rooms are the high wooden ceilings which are nearly all original.
Málaga is the gateway to the Costa del Sol but it is so much more than a place for passing through. Just outside the city, the coast offers lovely sandy beaches, while the town is noted for it's nightlife, restaurants and tapas bars. For a more cultural visit, Malaga is famous for the Picasso Museum and the Moorish Alcazaba castle.
"Mercedes"? Nothing to do with the car. Casa de las Mercedes was built in the mid-18th century by the Convent de la Merced. It was one of nine town houses built on the edge of the orchard of the convent in the popular baroque style of the period to provide an income for the order.

What We Say:
Charming character hotel in the heart of a vibrant city. From the Guestbook:
" The hotel is difficult to find but we were compensated with a warm welcome, very good information of the city and the surrounding area - a really good and very friendy service (by the way: excellent English!)."
"Individual rooms and nice patio all in authentic style, but renovated and provided with up to date housing technology. Very friendly and nice staff. For Malaga's situation quite calm, as situated in a little alley without car traffic. We did feel welcome and comfortable."
