Located at the foot of the Montseny massif close to the Natural Park of the same name, Hotel Masferrer is a Catalan farmhouse dating originally from the late 18th century. Today it is the oldest building of its type in the area.

The restoration has been the magnum opus of husband-and-wife team Montse and Manel who have created a small, friendly hotel of 12 rooms lying in an idyllic country setting. The extensive rebuilding has carefully conserved the historic features such as the semi-circular stone arch of the main entrance porch and the massive masonry that frames each window. Many other gothic and renaissance features are retained, contrasting with more contemporary elements and comforts which Montse has brought to the hotel.

The interior is Montse’s domain where she has furnished the lounge and library with antique furniture and created a charming blend of old and new. Gleaming wooden floors, artisan tiles, huge wooden beams and exposed stone walls abound. The library on the first floor is an especially restful place to read a book or partake of quiet conversation. Meanwhile, just outside the dining room is a large open porch providing an ideal place to sit for a drink or a post-dinner coffee. Beyond is the garden and the swimming pool.

Hotel Masferrer is surrounded by more than 60 acres of woodland filled with native trees like oak, Spanish pine, cork oak, eucalyptus and banana. Not far away are the mountains and the Natural Park of Montseny, yet at the same time Masferrer has easy connection to Barcelona, Gerona and the Costa Brava coast.

Restaurant:

The restaurant is situated within the old stables, where the large windows flood the room with natural light all day. The menu is designed to bring a maximum of local seasonal products to your table.
For days out, the hotel can supply a ready prepared picnic lunch.
