Casa Julio Verne is a beautiful Andalucian townhouse tucked away in the old quarter of the small whitewashed town of San Roque, with views to the Rock of Gibraltar and even on to Morocco. This is the littlest of little hotels, with just three rooms and a homely atmosphere to match. Located on the southern tip of Andalucia, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, visitors have the choice to visit sandy Mediterranean beaches, the slightly wilder beaches of the Atlantic coast, or the glorious mountainous hinterland.

Casa Julio Verne is a home that invites in its guests. There is a cool fragrant central courtyard, and even a Turkish hammam (steam bath). You can relax in the comfortable lounge, with a drink from the honesty bar, then listen to a CD or watch a film, or even catch up with things at home by e-mail.

Up on the rooftop terrace, there is space to sun yourself by day and enjoy the spectacular views of Gibraltar. In the evenings, it remains a beautiful location to lay back and view the stars and the distant lights on the Rock.

The hotel has two suites and one double/twin room. All are very spacious and elegantly refurbished with ensuite bathrooms , quality beds and linen, a tea making facility, bathrobes and hairdryers. Then, each has individual features such an open fire, beamed ceiling and a double jacuzzi - perfect for a romantic break.

Restaurant:

Only breakfast is available, served in the dining room. Most guests opt for dinner at one of the three local restaurants that are in easy walking distance, but of course there are many other options within the town.

This will make a perfect base for visiting the beaches of the Costa Del Sol near Estepona and Sotogrande, or venturing west to the almost deserted Costa de la Luz around Tarifa. Drop in on the apes at Gibraltar (there's actually quite a lot else to see too, so give yourself time) or drive up into the mountains for some fabulous walking.
