Casa Del Maco is obviously very special to the Belgian photographer Bert De Vooght. He bought it, lived in it, sold it, then missed it so much that he bought it back.
Previously his holiday home, Casa Del Maco is now a gourmet French Restaurant with a small 5 room rural hotel. It is an 18th century typical Spanish farmhouse nestling in the valley between Benissa and Calpe, surrounded by pinewoods and terraced fields of olive and almond trees. The setting is utterly peaceful yet only a few kilometres from the bustle of the beaches. From the terrace there are outstanding views right down to the coast, to the colossal rock of Ifach and the glistening Mediterranean.
This little "casa rural" has been lovingly restored with each guestroom equipped with modern luxuries but never renouncing the rural and Mediterranean character of the building. The antiques and restored furniture are high points of the decoration and every corner of the house has its own charm.
Outside, there are terraces and a good-sized swimming pool. This is where the chef grows the herbs that he will use in his cooking, giving the whole space an unusually fragrant air. During the summer months, tables are laid for dinner on the terrace, and you can enjoy an aperitif in the garden before dining.
Restaurant:
The bright, attractive restaurant provides French haute cuisine to guests and non-residents alike. The dinner menu offers two set menus and an a la carte, truly haute cuisine. Breakfast is a comprehensive continental breakfast with fresh orange juices, cereals, cold meats, cheeses, bread and croissants, etc.Hover on a picture to pause the slideshow, click for a bigger photo
A Word From the Owner:
"I was fascinated by the 18th century country house where I was working as a photographer. Later I turned it into a small rustic hotel-restaurant. Amongst the vines and almond trees there is hardly any trace of modern civilisation. In these superb surroundings I invite you to taste a meal served on our patio near the swimming pool where herbs are grown for our gastronomic kitchen. Don't forget that the Costa Blanca beaches are close by (only 4km)."Hotel Amenities:
