The hotel is built around three traditional patios:
El Patio del Naranjo is the main courtyard of the house where a large orange tree grows in the centre, providing shade and a lovely scent. To further enhance the atmosphere, a fountain built of Roman stones and pillars burbles quietly along one wall.
El Patio Cubierto is 100% Cordoban, having a floor of pebble mosaic featuring various plant motifs.
El Patio de Flores leads out to the street of the same name. This too features a fountain constructed from local archaelogical artefacts.
The rooftop terrace is what give Balcón de Córdoba it's name: a glorious setting with 360º views of Córdoba, so close to the Mezquita you feel you could almost reach out and touch it.
In the bedrooms, the historic nature of the hotel has been blended with 4 star luxuries and warm, neutral shades and some richly coloured woods. So while it is the individual character of a room that really comes through, there is also a flat-screen television (DVD or BluRay player on request), telephone, minibar, safe, air conditioning, wired and wireless internet and slippers and bathrobes in the bathroom. The "standard" rooms are very adequate, but for an extra touch of luxury, choose one of the suites. There is also a room especially adapted for disabled guests.
Córdoba is a relatively small city, yet a giant of history. It was the capital of Roman Spain, and the first capital of the Islamic Caliphate. Close by the hotel is the Mezquita, one of the world’s masterpieces of great Islamic architecture, later turned into a cathedral by the catholic Spanish. Each year in May the Festival de Los Patios Cordobeses celebrates the Cordoban love of flowers.
